Dear Friends of Tatra Mountains Volunteer Rescue Service,
Many important things have happened in recent months, as well as things for which we would like to thank you warmly.
But let’s start with the groundbreaking events that will forever go down in the history of the organization. A General Meeting was held on September 26, 2021, at which a new Board of Directors was elected. Head of TOPR will remain Jan Krzysztof, holding this position since 1998.
Boleslaw Pietrzyk – experienced rescuer and lawyer, for the last few years serving as vice-president of the TOPR Foundation, became the new president of the TOPR Board of Directors. We welcome the decisions made and keep our fingers firmly crossed for the Board of Directors in its new composition. The full list of Board Members can be found at:

Recent months have also been extremely demanding in terms of rescue operations in the Tatra Mountains. And although 2021 is not over yet, we can already say that compared to previous years, the number of accidents was much higher. By the end of September, nearly 1,000 people were helped, and the number of rescue expeditions in the holiday months was higher by more than 40% compared to the previous year (more than 300). The helicopter played a key role in providing assistance. In the holiday months alone, it has been used to help more than 100 times.

September, on the other hand, abounded in many night expeditions and rescues – there were weeks where expeditions went out every night to pick up tourists lost in the high parts of the mountains.
Unfortunately, the incremental trend in terms of the number of accidents has continued for several years now.

And here comes the moment when we would like to thank you for your support by donating 1% of your tax to TOPR. Without the funds with which you support our activities in the Tatras, we could not perform our service so effectively. The increasing number of TOPR activities, including the most complicated ones, in difficult conditions, requiring the most advanced rescue and medical activities, is possible not only thanks to the training and readiness of rescuers, but also thanks to reliable equipment. It is also on it in the most difficult situations that the safety of rescuers and the ability to help the injured depends.

Thanks to your support from the campaign “1% for TOPR” we have received, for 2020 the amount: PLN 2,185,590.40. This is a huge support in a year that has brought us all so many challenges. These funds allowed us to make ongoing repairs and purchase rescue and medical equipment, as well as cover some of the necessary investments related to the operation of the airport and facilities of our “Falcon”. In the coming weeks, we will publish a full list of purchases on the foundation’s website. However, we would already like to thank all the Donors and our regular Partners supporting us through media campaigns within the framework of the “1% for TOPR” campaign. Thank you for your support! We take your help as a commitment. By supporting us you become part of TOPR.
